Dwell at Vue is an apartment rental community located in Old Town San Pedro with easy access to Long Beach. It is a modern yet comfortable space with impressive views of its surrounding areas. The Vue offers the best of all amenities which include a state of the art fitness center, sparkling pool, cabanas, yoga studio, and a rooftop deck with a full bar and lounge areas.
With a resort-like feel, Dwell at Vue is more than just an apartment building. It is a sanctuary for the mind, body and soul. With the use of all the combined materials in this project, Style Interior Design was successful in accomplishing this desired atmosphere.
The reception/lobby area has a mixture of crisp white materials which are stone flooring, Glass concierge desk and plastic laminate on the concierge desk as well. Warm tones were added to the wooden wall paneling and paint for an overall inviting feel. The stone floor in the lobby is:

“A Little History Lesson”
“Luigi Colani is known as the ‘Master of the Curve’. His wallcovering designs are based on the premise that all life comes from water, from drops to flowing wave formations, with glimmering effects and iridescent colors. Richard J Anuszkiewicz, whose work has been exhibited at the Biennale in Venice and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, views his art as a continuous process. American born, with Polish ancestry, he is among the originators of Op Art, a style of painting concerned with visual sensation and the effect of optical illusion. His wallcoverings reproduce his original works. Born in Egypt, Karim Rashid describes his own style as ‘sensual minimalism’. His creations give a perceptible, cozy feeling while his designs deviate from all strict lines. “I want to change the world” is the self-confident motto of Karim Rashid, who is the leading figure in the fields of product, interior, fashion, furniture, lighting design and art.” - www.colani.com-The fitness area flooring was made from a beautiful resilient flooring product.

Even though this project turned out beautifully, like all projects typically, there were some issues post installation with the white stone flooring in the lobby. When the stone was specified, the designer made sure the stone met the co-efficient of friction, and indeed it did. However it was also used outside the front door of the building and when it rained it no longer had the same value it needed to have for slip resistance. So as a lesson to be learned, just because you use a flooring inside and it meets the standards, it does not mean it will identify in the same way in a different application, such as outdoors where moisture will most likely come into play.
